How To Keep Your Tablet Device Clean
Tablets took the technology world by storm and many rushed out to get their hands on one of these coveted devices. As years have gone by, tablets have become a staple in many homes. However, chances are that most people who own an android tablet or an iPad don’t clean it each and every time they’re used.
Tablet Devices: Pretty Great or Pretty Gross?
Although these devices are certainly a great piece of machinery in terms of their mobility, design and performance there is one question that needs to be asked…How clean are they really?
Most households around the world will have at least one, if not more, tablet devices. These devices are most intuitively controlled using our fingertips and as a technology-obsessed generation, it is not uncommon for us to spend hours scrolling through apps and the Internet on them. Yet, let’s think about how much bacteria and dirt our hands and devices come into contact with on a daily basis. If you think it isn’t much, think again!
As we have talked about before, our smartphones can carry 10 times more bacteria than our toilets. It has also been found that our smartphones contain approximately 25,000 germs per square inch. Now imagine how much our android tablets and iPads must carry? According to a study carried out by the Journal of Applied Microbiology, 23% of viruses will transfer from our hands to our tablet device.
Whether we like it or not, our hands come into contact with millions of different kinds of bacteria and viruses that are invisible to the naked eye. We handle our smartphone devices up to 150 times a day giving bacteria plenty of opportunities to pass to our hands. Now, let’s throw our tablet devices into the mix. These devices pick up all the invisible grime that is on our hands and that was on our smartphone devices. Once we start to use our tablet devices and they begin to get warm, it creates the ultimate breeding ground for even more bacteria creating a vicious circle of never-ending microbes.
By ignoring cleaning our android tablets and iPads, these devices which were once considered as great may soon be just plain gross.
Tablets & iPads: How Should They Be Cleaned?
Like most devices, the screens of tablets and iPads are designed with a protective coating to combat the natural oils present on our fingers. Using the wrong cleaning products such as harsh chemicals or abrasive cloths can wear down this coating and cause further damage to your tablet device.
Wondering how to clean your tablet device without harming it? Cleaning a tablet device can be easy and effective with the right products. To clean the screen, it is advised that you use a microfiber cloth. These cloths are much less abrasive than their paper alternatives and are capable of attracting all the dust and grime on our device screens rather than spreading them around.
Are there stubborn fingerprint marks or makeup smudges all over the screen and casing? Consider using a cleaning product that is haze-free and VOC-free such as Screen Shine. This product has a streak-free proprietary formulation and when used with a microfiber cloth, makes sure that your tablet device stays extra clean for longer.
Remember, when cleaning a tablet device it is always important to ensure that the device is turned off and is disconnected from any external power supplies.
Spring Clean Your Tablet Screen
Whether you have an iPad or a Samsung Tab S, these devices truly are a great invention and should be kept that way. The next time you go to use your tablet device, stop for a second and ask yourself when was the last time it was cleaned? A spring clean for your tablet screen can never hurt.
